Having recently bought Melody AM, the decade-old début album from Norwegian electro duo Röyksopp (despite being a big fan of their work I had never owned their first album), I was surprised to discover that I already knew the opener, "So Easy". Another band that appears to be basking in the creative light that the summer brings, American math rock trio Battles' lead single from their latest album "Gloss Drop" (which I personally find has a strangely attractive cover) takes its inspiration from everyone's favourite Italian frozen dessert. A very competitve market.

 These guys, and this song in particular, are my personal obsession at the minute. With a summery aura and a shimmering video to go along with it, this is THE song of the warmer months so far. And yet, with all of the influences of the big burning ball in the sky, the three-piece indie-tronica group Polarsets hail from Newcastle. Wonders will never cease.
