Givers - Meantime

Apologies for the lack of blog posts over the past couple of days - been really busy so this has kinda fallen inactive. Don't think I've forgotten about it though! Here's your latest nugget of indie-pop brilliance.

Givers are the latest trend on the Afro-pop happy-go-lucky indie scene. With their début entry into the music world, "Up Up Up", making ripples on both sides of the Atlantic it fell to follow-up "Meantime" to deliver the goods and prove they're not just a very happy one trick pony. And it seems, for the meantime (trololol) that they've succeeded.

With cleverly disjointed rhythms causing the pace to alter at various times in the song's duration, "Meantime" is intriguing to the ear to say the least. Givers appear to be forming sing-along choruses and Caribbean drum beats as part of their characteristic and it's all very jolly, while never crossing over into sappy and dripping in cheese. It may be a bit haphazard for the casual ear but if a pick-me-up indie-pop song is what you're after, look no further.
