Lo-fi vocals? Check. Chillwave background? Check. 80s inspired workout music video-cum-random space disco? Big check. Ladies and gentlemen, if you haven't otherwise been introduced, meet Washed Out.
Consisting of Ernest Greene, a native of Perry, Georgia, US, this solo chillwave music product has been a major breakthrough for the 27 year old. Along with Toro y Moi (who you are likely to hear from in a future post) they have been forging a path for the chillwave genre, a newly developed amalgamation of retro 80s nostalgia and ambient pop. Now, with his début album "Within And Without" released just last month, the Washed Out mania appears to be growing from strength to strength.
However, because I am so massively hipster I have decided instead to focus on a brilliant track from his 2009 extended play, High Times, featuring the glamourous shots of three latex-clad ladies performing random aerobic routines, followed by the most bizzare surprise party of all time.
